One journalist interviewed this author about that you believe in God. He says that I believe in Howard which is his mother's maiden name. After his grandfather died, he mixed up his grandfather and God as one and the same. He mentions that Howard is a transcendent or immanent; as up there somewhere or present here. Howard is a transcendent image of God. Also, he says if God is immanent, then there is no place God is not. He introduced one Indian professor who met in plane. He was argueing existence of God with the Indian Professor. When they crossed ocean, they talked about Hydrology. He is a water expert. He explains that Hydrology is "the scientific study of properties, distribution, and effects of water in the atmosphere, on the earth's surface, and in soil and rocks." The Indian professor asked him what common thing is. Finally, the Indian professor emphasizes "What we have in common is thirst. Thirst! Thirst for the water of life!"

Frankly, this part was kind of serious. But, I think that situation in flight is fun and interesting to me. I have taken planes in many times. Everytime that I took plane, I saw many water such as The Pacific, and many rivers. Most people do that. | Apr. 5th, 2005 07:13 pm Extensive Reading 3rd I read "The phantom of the Opera". Rating ***** (easy to read)
The book is very thin so I choose the one and read down to the foot of the page.
The author is Jennifer Bassett, he/she is not the famous author who is written "The phonton of Opera".
But this book has same story as famous one but it was short.
The opera house is in Paris, which has very big scale, there are 2500 doors.
There are lot of secret rooms, and many people mention about ghost.
Some says ghost is tall, wears a black evening coat, and has terrible face like a dead man.
Jost Buquet is dead after he saw the ghost.
People know that the ghost doesn't like people talk about the ghost.
There are some mistery in the opera House.
The mistery is directors of the opera House never sell tickets for Box 5. (The ghost often appear the place.)
One day, the best singer,La Chrlotta, was sick so the role was replaced as Christine.
She has beautiful voice, when she is in stage so she has became popular.
Raoul see her in the performance, actually he met her some party and he crush on her.
When he tried to meet her, he heard she was talking with someone, but he couldn't see anyone except her.
Finally, Christine told the secret that the ghost is her teacher and loves her.
Christine knows the ghost very well and the ghost may kill Raoul.
Raoul and Christine have a last meeting at the top of the opera house.
They talk about that the ghost may kill Raoul because he loves Christine.
Even the ghost try to kill him, at that time Christine kiss a face of the ghost.
The ghost, Erik, is touched by the kiss. He says that even her mother didn't kiss and sends her to Raoul.
They have in different social position but they go away in countryside.
Even though the story doesn't have any detail, but I like the story.
It was very easy to read.
If someone do not like to read books in English, the book helps them.
"The Phantom of Opera" is very famous for few years.
But I didn't read any book and watch a movie which is related to "The Phantom of Opera".
By Reading this book, I can't stand to watch the movie.
I want to see the ghost's face. listen to their beautiful voices. and feel their true loves. 4 comments - Leave a comment | |

| Apr. 3rd, 2005 10:50 pm Movie night with my mom. I had one thing that I had never had with mom.
The one was watching movie with mom.
I had lived alone last year, at that time I realized that I didn't have many time with my mom.
Actually, I knew that my parents was my the most valuable one in my life.
Even though I knew that, I didn't do anything for my parents.
I regretted to have done such the thing.
Last night. I ate some ice cream and some bread with mom. Plus, Popcorn and Nacos.
Of course, I treated everything.^^ (Am I sweat hearted???)
I watched just funny movie (마파도 Mapado) with my mom.
The story was funny, but it was also touching my mom and me.
Otherwise, it happens in some Island which was such a beautiful.
One girl was out of the Island because it was kind of contury and she was sick and tired of her life.
Commonly, she thought that she could earn a lot of money if she went to big cities.
But she felt failed and she came back to her home, that is Mapado.
At that time, I feel the mind and love of her mother, even though her mom had kind of a speech defect.
(It is not main story but deep impression to me.)
My mother and I sobbed, maybe, my mom thought her mother.
Sometimes, people do not realize what the most important things are in their lives.
Next time, I am going to go a movie with my father. ^^
I Love my parents for ever.

| Mar. 29th, 2005 11:49 pm Extensive Reading 2nd
I read the book is entitled UH-OH from 37 until 57. It has some stories which is related to Cinderella and hiccup. At first I was quiet interested in Cinderella story. First part, it took place in kindergarten. These children and teacher were trying to do play which was about Cinderella. In teacher's view choosing Cinderella story was really good choice because there were many kinds of roles which every child could play. When the parts of plot were allotted, teacher noticed that one small boy didn't have any role. Also, he was enigmatic child because he was plump and often teased by other children. No one wants to be the role that was a pig, the boy wants to be the pig in the play. While he was practice, he was an outstanding kid so other children became his friends. Finally, he received a standing ovation in the stage.
Another story of Cinderella is the reality in these days. The storyteller says " The American Cinderella is a victim of bad luck". The reason is Cinderella's mom died and her father remarry with wicked woman who has wicked daughters. there have always some options is hopes. The motto of Cinderella is "Maybe something will happen". Also, the story tells us "And they lived happily ever after". After reading the Cinderella, people usually think that it could not happen as we know. I like the criticism part. As many children read the Cinderella story, the story might make children even adults strain the reality. I strongly agree that "The passive, helpless, waiting version of Cinderella is poison".
Other part of the book (UH-OH) is about hiccup. The Author empathies that hiccups lies in their social context. There the example that sometimes people are full of a room. If someone starts hiccup, people recommend the ways to stop hiccup. someone say continuedly "Stand on your head", "Hold your breath" something like that. The situation could be funny. By the hiccup, we can see the mood may change.

<Extensive Reading>
I read this book which is entitled "UH-OH". I read until 32 pages. The author's name is Robert Fulgham. He is very famous storyteller, the most famous book is "All I really need to know I learned in kindergarten". I also read the book but the book was translated in Korean. I choose rating 8. Actually, I like this book but I don't think that someone like this book. That's because this is just normal (would be not interesting) stories. whereas I'd like to read this one because I can notice something is normal but the Author found it is special. While I read this book, I was so surprised what he found. I just say that he is creative.
Isn't the book name so funny? UH-OH is common expression that people use in many situation. When people have small problems, they say UH-OH when they react momentary. At first part he say about UH-OH. it means that people mostly say that words but they didn't think about that (of course). Otherwise, he wrote something is just common such as refrigerator. He mentions that " A refrigerator is the center of the universe", because a refrigerator is a need for live. frankly, I read this part, I sneer at him, it was just stupid. After that part, he explain why he says like that. For food saving is related with people's lives and histories.
This book has many kind of interesting stories which no one discovers. Also, this book is good for reading in break time. I want to read other stories in UH-OH. In America, there is UH-Oh, I have my own expression UH-MEO (어머) the same meaning as Uh-OH.

| Mar. 21st, 2005 11:21 pm Sue's Reading History^^ 1. An Important book
Actually, I couldn't choose what the most important book is in my reading history even though my favorite hobby is reading books. I thought about this topic over and over. I realized that I like to read some kind of romantic novels and historical novels. That's why I couldn't choose easily. At that time I remember the book which is the autobiography of Martin Luther King, Jr. This famous book name is "I Have a Dream". Most contents of the book is from Martin Luther King's diary. When I bought the book, I was in high school student. Even though the book was difficult to me, but I got good points from the book. I realized exactly what I should in my future and all dream should be worthy same as Martin Luther pastor's dream. I was really impressive the real stories which the pastor underwent a lot of difficulties and hardships. He was suppose to give up what he was doing about protest. However, he didn't. Unfortunately, he was shot dead before the rule was changed. He died but his dream came true. Because of his dream, people had changed their views about discrimination. It is also changed America's history. My dream is that I want to be one of the greatest teachers in the world. Reading the book affects me deeply. After reading the book, I can tell what the most important thing in my life is My Dream.
2. My experiences of reading books
When I was child, my parents was so busy because they had their jobs. They couldn't have many time with me. Fortunately y parents gave me many books. At that time, I usually read books until my parents came home. That's why that reading books is so familiar to me. If I have the same situation now, I can't read books like my childhood. That is because I would like to do a lot of more interesting ones such as using a computer, playing games, watching TV etc. Compared with thesedays, in my childhood, there weren't a lot of interesting ones. So I can pay attention in reading books more. I was kind of famous in my relatives whenever I visited their house I usually read almost all books they had.*^^* When I was in middle school, I didn't often read books before I had read. I mostly read some kind of romantic novels. Sometimes they had some gaudy stories, but my parents still liked that I read many books. Hardly had I entered to high school, when I joined the club for poem compositions. I should read many poems and books. Sometime, I suffered that I should compose some creative writings so I gave up that I wanted to be a compositor. As the experience was hard for me, it was helpful to me. Still now I really respect all writers. Nowadays I have tried to read many English novels. The greatest achievement was that I completely read the book which is entitled " A Walk to Remember". After reading the book, I realized what true love is and my English skill is improved.
Reading Books is the most important one in my life and also everyone's life. Current Mood: cheerful

| Mar. 10th, 2005 07:03 pm What is True Love? Today I watched the movie which entitled "While you were sleeping" (I'm not sure the name)
The movie was a romantic and lovely movie.
The movie says many worth meanings to me.
"Life isn't always turn out the way you plan." and "you mom gave me the special gift, she gave me the world."
I like that in the movie, actually I and my class mates didn't finish to watch the movie.
While watching the movie I asked to me that what true love was.
Frankly, I really want to have a boyfriend nowadays.
The biggest reason that I want to have a boyfriend is that I am so lonely.
Most my friends have their girl or boy friends.
Anyway I will try to find my prince charming (in the movie she mentions like that).
But I am always confused what true love is.
I have a secret that is funny and surprising.
I have never had a boyfriend because I was afraid that I might be hurt or I might hurt others.
By the way, I should meet someone who can truely love me.
From now on. I am going to look forward my prince charming.
Please, pray for me. ^____^ Current Mood: busy
